In late October, just a couple weeks ago, I spent some time in Washington, DC, where I was lucky enough to be a moderator of an important discussion on science infrastructure in the US. While I would only be there for about 36 hours, I had an idea of what I wanted to do: walk around DC listening to music…and lo, this playlist was born.
It’s curated to be DC-specific (though there aren’t too many DC references in her songs!), kicking off with Taylor singing about congressmen; including “Only the Young,” a song she wrote about the 2018 midterm elections; and of course containing some newer stuff such as “Life of a Showgirl” — the life of a DC science policy insider is not without its unseen challenges, after all. I enjoyed listening to it while walking around the National Mall!
