We are a team of proven communications experts and researchers. Our founder, Sheeva Azma, is a freelance science writer, digital and strategic communications professional, and bylined journalist, as well as a trained neuroscientist and educator of over 20 years.

Sheeva Azma, M.S.

Sheeva wears many hats: writer/strategist, neuroscientist, educator, journalist, science policy professional, educator, and storyteller. She earned her B.S. in Brain and Cognitive Science from MIT and her M.S. in Neuroscience from Georgetown, spending 10 years as a cognitive neuroscience researcher. Sheeva got into freelance writing in 2013 and never looked back. She applied her writing skills crafting memos as a legislative intern in the United States House of Representatives a few years later. These days, she combines her research, policy, and communications expertise to craft strategic messages in many different varieties: for radio, blogs, podcasts, marketing campaigns, political engagement, and more. Sheeva has worked with clients in many industries including government, defense, nonprofit, commercial, educational, and tech sectors. Kelly Tabbutt, Ph.D.

Kelly is Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at Oberlin College. She joined Fancy Comma while studying her PhD in Sociology at the University of Oklahoma. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Sociology and a Certificate in American Indian Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Kelly’s PhD research focused on sociology of law with a focus on American Indian sovereign rights. She has five years of experience conducting quantitative social scientific research and writing research papers at the graduate level. As sociology is a field which incorporates theories and knowledge from a broad range of scientific, social behavioral, and humanistic fields, Kelly possesses vast interdisciplinary knowledge which she continues to both benefit from and improve upon. Kevin Ho, M.B.A.

Kevin is a freelance writer and government administration professional with field experience in the political world and in-depth policy analysis experience in the fields of environment and US-China trade. Kevin earned his M.B.A. from Clarewood University and his B.A. in International Relations and Affairs from University of Maryland. A freelance writer since 2018, he’s edited and written academic papers, blogs, and grant proposals for non-profits. Matthew Bow
