We are science creatives, and we exist.
(We’re just creatives with science backgrounds — sometimes one science degree, sometimes, as in my case, multiple, and sometimes a PhD in a scientific field!)
We may not be in the room with the marketing executives all the time, but when we are, we bring our best ideas (and can back them up with science).
We can come up with a tagline and we can search PubMed to do so in an evidence-based manner.
Since we naturally love research and data, we can optimize our impressions on social media while loving the number-crunching and statistics.

Need science explained? Talk to us first — we can give you the low-down.
We have many jobs that often go unnoticed or taken for granted: we are information officers at universities, staff journalists, freelance graphic designers, radio and podcast hosts.
We run our own science creative businesses (much like this one!) trying to make it in a world of polished-looking people who walk the walk but do not talk the science talk.

Despite all of our qualifications, it can feel easy to feel so invisible as a science creative in a world, seemingly, of nonscientist creatives.
We have dedicated a good chunk of our lives to stretching the boundaries of knowledge, and putting in work day after day at the lab with very little recognition or fanfare.
Importantly…we exist…and we are awesome. In marketing, being a quiet, persevering voice isn’t enough, supposedly, but we are here, and we are showing up to speak out in favor of evidence-based marketing content (not to mention that we can knock the data analytics socks off of anyone who has never had to analyze research data before).
I created a playlist to hype myself up about being a science creative in a world where creativity and science often feel pitted against each other for no good reason.
I hope it inspires you, too, my fellow scientist in marketing.
