MEET THE FOUNDER

The founder of Fancy Comma, LLC is Sheeva Azma. Sheeva has a BS in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from MIT and an MS in Neuroscience from Georgetown University. Between her BS and MS, Sheeva worked for a research lab at Massachusetts General Hospital. She began freelance writing in 2013 after completing her MS at Georgetown in Washington, DC. At the same time, she was gaining expertise in policy advocating for science on Capitol Hill and working at a DC-area think tank. In the ensuing years, she continued to pursue policy research and analysis. She has also worked in the U.S. Congress.

At Fancy Comma, LLC our team of writers have proven skills in explaining highly complex concepts and issues in easy-to-understand language for lay and professional audiences alike. We have experience writing informative, persuasive, and research-backed articles, blogs, books, and white papers for a range of topics and clients from students, researchers, and hobbyists to small and large businesses and organizations. Our areas of expertise include: health, science, business and finance, policy, and technology.

WHAT WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED

In the last year and a half, the team at Fancy Comma, LLC has accomplished a lot. The business has grown to include major clients with consistent contracts, and the list is growing. We have a blog on our website (www.fancycomma.com) which includes posts on a range of topics in our areas of expertise as well as writing, editing, researching, and freelancing generally. 

We have also written a book about breaking into freelance science writing available on Amazon. Recently, we have started a YouTube channel so we can share what we know with the community of people who are doing or want to learn about science communication (SciComm). We also have a lively Twitter presence for Fancy Comma (@FancyComma). 

MADE IT THROUGH THE STORM

Fancy Comma, LLC was founded just one month before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic and the world was turned upside down by illness, quarantine measures, and social distancing which affected billions of individuals and businesses. We were able to weather this storm by learning and using our skills and knowledge and help unpack the complex science and health issues around the pandemic and its effect on the world in a way that any reader could understand. At the end of the day, we have come out stronger, more knowledgeable, and with a range of new experiences and expertise.
